Just leafing through its pages has expanded my travel dreams—I can’t wait to visit Zanzibar (the original Spice Island) to see the clove orchards! Or to sample plantain-coconut curry stew in Tanzania, basteeya and chermoula in Morocco, and injera and berbere in Ethiopia. African cuisines are marvelously adept in pairing spices and flavors to achieve mouth-watering results.
