One of the few cookbooks I’ve seen dedicated to the art of outdoor dining, this book is a treat for any picnic lover. Some recipes are a little esoteric—I don’t think I’ll be barbecuing a quail any time soon—but most of them hover between classics like Salad Niçoise and intriguing-yet-simple innovations like miniature frittatas with goat cheese and smoked salmon. (Cold Avocado Soup is another one of my favorites.) Many of the dishes are accompanied by a sample menu of selections. With this out-of-Australia cookbook on your shelf, you’ll be sure to impress your fellow picnickers with what’s in your basket!
