Cinnamon-Dusted Pears & Macadamias

Cinnamon-Dusted Pears & Macadamias

This four-ingredient breakfast (nuts, fruit, milk, and spice) is bound to get you off to a good start.  The only ingredient that will take any time at all is cutting up the fruit, and the fresh taste and hearty nutrition of this breakfast is worth the two minutes you’d save if you poured yourself a bowl of cereal instead.  (Most cereals contain a less-than-salutory blend of refined grains, sugars, and “fortifications” to replace what was taken out.)

You can use any combination of fruit and nuts for your breakfast, but I’ve found that the rich butteriness of macadamias means that you only need a small handful–about 1/4 of a cup–per pear. After dicing the pear, I poured almond milk over it, then added the nuts, and then finished by sprinkling some cinnamon on top.

Voilà! Not even a made-that-morning box of Kellogg’s best could begin to compare with a homemade fruit-and-nut “cereal.” And if you’d like your bowl to be a bit sweeter, drizzle on a bit of honey or agave nectar.

Enjoy!

Wow, Lisa…This looks like an awesome idea. Maybe it’s the 30 miles I just biked to get home from work today, I am starving. Alas, I don’t think so. This sounds way yummier than frosted mini whatevers, or Tarts that need Popping! Mmmmm, almond milk.
